From Geneva airport to Val d'Isère, at the very end of the Tarentaise at 1,850 metres. About three hours via Annecy, Albertville and Bourg-Saint-Maurice, with a chauffeur who knows the Tignes dam on a February Saturday.
Val d'Isère is, with Tignes, the furthest of the major French resorts from Geneva, right at the head of the upper Tarentaise. You cross the border at Bardonnex, head for Annecy and Albertville, follow the N90 past Moûtiers to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, then climb some thirty kilometres to the village. Allow about three hours when traffic flows.
The last climb is the most dramatic. After Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise the road runs through a series of tunnels, crosses the Tignes dam and follows Lac du Chevril before reaching Val d'Isère. It is also the well-known bottleneck of changeover Saturdays, and the place where one badly equipped car stops everyone when it snows.
The Col de l'Iseran, which links Val d'Isère to the Maurienne, is closed all winter. You therefore enter and leave the resort by the same road, which is why the return departure time is decided with such care.
The border and the motorway, the long Tarentaise valley, then the upper Isère. Three different rhythms on a single drive.
From the airport to Bardonnex, then the French motorway to Annecy. The quick part, except at peak border hours.
From Albertville past Moûtiers to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, a long valley where Saturday traffic builds first.
Around thirty kilometres from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to Val d'Isère, through Sainte-Foy and past the Tignes dam. Winter tyres and chains are essential.
Flight number, passengers, skis and luggage. Rate and car confirmed in writing.
Your chauffeur checks the forecast and the D902, and moves the departure earlier if snow is coming.
A name board on the Swiss or French side, luggage loaded for you.
Dropped at your chalet or hotel, in the centre, at Le Fornet or at La Daille.
Val d'Isère stretches along the Isère from La Daille at the entrance to Le Fornet at the head of the valley, through the centre and its five-star hotels. Your chauffeur drops you at the right address and collects you at the agreed time, for a dinner in the village or an evening in Tignes.
From November to the end of March, Savoie applies the French mountain law: four 3PMSF winter tyres or chains in the boot in the listed communes, with a 135 euro fine and possible immobilisation. On the D902 this is anything but theoretical, and our cars are equipped for the whole season.
Val d'Isère's clientele is very international, British in particular, and English school holidays matter as much as French ones. We take them into account when setting the departure time, especially for Saturday return flights.
For a couple, comfortable over the distance and sure-footed on winter tyres in the upper valley.
On a drive this long, it is the comfort of the second and third hours that makes the difference.
Seven seats, skis, boots and a week of luggage, with nothing left behind in Geneva.
Agreed in writing before you book, unchanged by snow or a late flight.
Chauffeurs used to the D902 and the Tignes dam on winter Saturdays.
Flight tracked from take-off, waiting caused by delays never billed.
One road out of the resort, and a departure time worked out accordingly.
A Geneva to Val d'Isère transfer with My Private Service is a private car for your party only, a chauffeur waiting in the arrivals hall, on the Swiss or the French side as you prefer with your name, and a rate fixed in writing before you travel. The drive takes about three hours via Annecy and the Tarentaise, with the last 30 kilometres climbing from Bourg-Saint-Maurice through the gorges to the resort at 1,850 metres.
A taxi from Geneva airport to Val d'Isère runs on the meter and is rarely equipped for the mountain. Shared coach and shuttle transfers leave on a timetable, stop at other resorts and wait for other flights. The train from Geneva reaches Bourg-Saint-Maurice, 30 kilometres below the resort, so a car is needed anyway. A private airport transfer leaves when you land and drops you at the door, which on a Saturday in February makes the difference.
For a family or a group of friends, the Mercedes V-Class takes seven passengers with skis and luggage; larger groups travel in two or three vehicles leaving together. The same private ski transfer serves the hotels, the chalets and Val d'Isère centre, La Daille, Le Fornet and Le Châtelard.
We run the Val d'Isère to Geneva transfer in both directions. For the return, your chauffeur sets the pick-up time from the road conditions and your flight, so the transfer time from Val d'Isère to Geneva airport is never a gamble. Ask for a return quote and both legs are confirmed together.
Transfer cost, transfer time, distance from Geneva to Val d'Isère or simply how to get from Geneva to Val d'Isère: send us the date, your flight and the number of passengers, and you receive a firm price and your chauffeur's name.
Get a quote for your Geneva to Val d'Isère transferAbout three hours from Geneva airport when the roads are clear. On a holiday Saturday or a snowy day the drive can exceed three and a half hours, mostly between Bourg-Saint-Maurice and the resort.
Geneva has the most flights. Chambéry is closer but mostly served by seasonal flights, and Lyon is a good alternative on peak Saturdays. We cover all three.
Not in winter: the pass is closed throughout the cold season. Val d'Isère is then reached only via Bourg-Saint-Maurice and the Tignes dam road.
From November to March the French mountain law requires 3PMSF winter tyres or chains on board in Savoie, and road signs can make chains mandatory on the D902. Our cars carry both.
Yes, Tignes is on the same road just before Val d'Isère. Give us the exact address and your chauffeur takes care of the rest.
For an early afternoon flight from Geneva we usually leave early in the morning, about five hours before take-off, to absorb the valley changeover.
The price depends on the car, the date and the number of passengers. It is fixed per vehicle, not per person, with taxes, tolls and waiting time included. Send us your flight and you receive the exact rate in writing before you book.
We are a private chauffeur service rather than a taxi rank: the car is booked in advance, the rate is fixed and the chauffeur waits for you whatever the delay. On this route it replaces the taxi and the shared shuttle for most travellers.
Yes. The Mercedes V-Class takes seven passengers with their cases and ski equipment; beyond that we send two or three vehicles together. Tell us the number of passengers and pairs of skis when you ask for the quote.
Yes. Tignes is fifteen minutes beyond Val d'Isère on the same road, and a party split between the two resorts can share one vehicle with two drop-offs.
Send us your flight, the date and the number of skiers. You receive the rate and your chauffeur's name before you confirm.
