From Geneva airport to Val Thorens, the highest resort in the Three Valleys at 2,300 metres. About two hours forty minutes on the road, a car equipped for snow and a rate fixed before you leave.
From Geneva airport the drive to Val Thorens crosses the border at Bardonnex, heads for Annecy and Albertville and follows the N90 up to Moûtiers. Up to that point it is an easy valley road, a little under two hours when it is clear.
Everything changes at Moûtiers. The Belleville valley road gains close to 1,800 metres of altitude on its way to the resort, past Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and then Les Menuires. Three quarters of an hour normally, but on a snowy changeover Saturday this stretch alone can take two to three hours.
Altitude has one advantage: snow is usually reliable from late November to early May, which makes Val Thorens one of the resorts where the season starts earliest and ends latest. Our transfers follow that calendar, from the first opening weekends.
A border, a long valley, then one of the highest climbs in the French Alps.
The Bardonnex border, then the French motorway. The quick part of the drive, except at peak border hours.
The Tarentaise expressway to the Moûtiers bottleneck, the first slowdown point on Saturdays.
The road that gains nearly 1,800 metres between Moûtiers and the resort, past Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and Les Menuires. This is where winter equipment becomes decisive.

Your chauffeur checks the forecast and the Belleville road, and moves the departure earlier if snow is coming.

Dropped as close to your residence as the resort's access rules allow.
In Val Thorens the car stops early: the resort is built to be crossed on skis, vehicles head for the car parks at the entrance and unloading at the residences follows set lanes and times. Your chauffeur drops you where it is allowed, as close as possible, and carries the bags to the door.
The French mountain law applies in Savoie from November to the end of March: 3PMSF winter tyres or chains in the boot in the listed communes, and a 135 euro fine if stopped without them. At 2,300 metres the equipment is never a formality, and our cars carry it all season.
If your flight lands in Lyon, the Lyon to Val Thorens transfer takes about two and a half hours with no border to cross.
For a couple and their cases, sure-footed on winter tyres in the Belleville valley.
For arriving rested at 2,300 metres after the flight and the drive.
The ski group car: seven seats and all the equipment.

Transfers from the first weekends of the season in late November.
About two hours forty minutes from Geneva airport on clear roads, for 155 kilometres. On a snowy holiday Saturday, the climb from Moûtiers alone can take two to three hours.
Geneva has many flights but a border crossing, Lyon a slightly longer drive entirely in France. We cover both, and Chambéry too.
Bardonnex, the motorway to Annecy, Albertville, the N90 to Moûtiers, then the Belleville road through Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and Les Menuires.
From November to March the French mountain law requires 3PMSF winter tyres or chains on board in Savoie, and road signs can require chains on the climb. Our cars carry both.
As close as the resort's traffic rules allow. If the car has to stop a little short, your chauffeur carries the bags to the door.
For an early afternoon flight we usually leave early in the morning, about five hours before take-off.
