Mont Blanc, an hour
from the airport

Chamonix is the most accessible major French resort from Geneva. After the Bardonnex border, the Autoroute Blanche climbs the Arve valley to Le Fayet, then the Route Blanche rises towards Servoz and into the Chamonix valley. In a little over an hour you go from the tarmac to the foot of the Aiguille du Midi.

It is also a year-round destination: winter for skiing and the Vallée Blanche, summer for mountaineering and hiking, and the end of August for the UTMB, when the valley welcomes runners from all over the world and available cars are booked weeks in advance.

The Mont Blanc tunnel runs from Chamonix to Courmayeur. Many of our clients combine the two: arrival in Geneva, a few days in Chamonix, then on to Italy with the same chauffeur.

Arriving in Chamonix

Arriving in the
Mont Blanc valley

The valley stretches for nearly twenty kilometres, from Les Houches to Argentière and Le Tour, and central Chamonix is largely pedestrian around Place Balmat. Your chauffeur knows where to stop for each hotel and carries the bags to reception when the car cannot go any further.

Haute-Savoie applies the French mountain law from November to the end of March: 3PMSF winter tyres or chains in the boot, a 135 euro fine and possible immobilisation if stopped without them. Our vehicles are equipped for the whole season.

If your flight lands in Lyon, we also run the Lyon to Chamonix transfer, about two and a quarter hours without going through Switzerland.

Your transfer options

Geneva airport to Chamonix: private transfer, taxi or shared shuttle?

Private transfer from Geneva airport to Chamonix

A Geneva to Chamonix transfer with My Private Service is a private car for your party only, a chauffeur waiting in the arrivals hall, on the Swiss or the French side as you prefer with your name, and a rate fixed in writing before you travel. It is the shortest ski transfer from Geneva: 88 kilometres and about 1h10 on the A40 motorway, with Mont Blanc in the windscreen from Sallanches onwards.

Taxi Geneva to Chamonix, shared shuttle or private chauffeur?

A taxi from Geneva airport to Chamonix runs on the meter and is rarely equipped for the mountain. Shared coach and shuttle transfers leave on a timetable, stop at other resorts and wait for other flights. The Geneva to Chamonix bus exists and is cheap, but it runs to a timetable and ends at the bus station, not at your chalet; the train takes well over two hours with a change. A private airport transfer leaves when you land and drops you at the door, which on a Saturday in February makes the difference.

Minibus, van and group ski transfers to Chamonix

For a family or a group of friends, the Mercedes V-Class takes seven passengers with skis and luggage; larger groups travel in two or three vehicles leaving together. The same private ski transfer serves the hotels, the chalets and Chamonix centre, Les Praz, Argentière and Les Houches.

Chamonix to Geneva airport: the return transfer

We run the Chamonix to Geneva transfer in both directions. For the return, your chauffeur sets the pick-up time from the road conditions and your flight, so the transfer time from Chamonix to Geneva airport is never a gamble. Ask for a return quote and both legs are confirmed together.

Transfer cost, transfer time, distance from Geneva to Chamonix or simply how to get from Geneva to Chamonix: send us the date, your flight and the number of passengers, and you receive a firm price and your chauffeur's name.

Frequently asked questions

Geneva to Chamonix transfer · FAQ

How long is the drive from Geneva to Chamonix?

A little over an hour from Geneva airport on clear roads, for 88 kilometres. On winter Saturdays and during the UTMB, allow a margin, especially at the border.

Should I exit on the Swiss or the French side?

Either works. Give us your flight and we advise the simplest exit, where your chauffeur waits, on one side only.

Do you run transfers to Chamonix in summer?

Yes, all year, with strong demand in July, August and UTMB week.

Can you drop us in Argentière or Les Houches?

Yes, anywhere in the valley from Les Houches to Le Tour, at the exact address.

Can we continue to Courmayeur?

Yes. The Mont Blanc tunnel links Chamonix and Courmayeur, and the onward journey can be booked with the same chauffeur.

Can the return to Geneva be booked at the same time?

Yes, at the same firm rate, with a departure time set around your flight and the day of the week.

How much is a private transfer from Geneva airport to Chamonix?

The price depends on the car, the date and the number of passengers. It is fixed per vehicle, not per person, with taxes, tolls and waiting time included. Send us your flight and you receive the exact rate in writing before you book.

Do you offer a taxi from Geneva airport to Chamonix?

We are a private chauffeur service rather than a taxi rank: the car is booked in advance, the rate is fixed and the chauffeur waits for you whatever the delay. On this route it replaces the taxi and the shared shuttle for most travellers.

Can you take a group with skis from Geneva to Chamonix?

Yes. The Mercedes V-Class takes seven passengers with their cases and ski equipment; beyond that we send two or three vehicles together. Tell us the number of passengers and pairs of skis when you ask for the quote.

Do you also drive from Chamonix to Geneva airport for an early flight?

Yes. For a morning departure the chauffeur collects you in Chamonix at a time set the day before from the road conditions, usually allowing ninety minutes to the terminal plus your check-in.
