From Chambéry airport to Val Thorens, the highest resort in the Three Valleys, in about an hour and a half on clear roads. A private chauffeur, a car equipped for snow and a rate fixed before you leave.
From Chambéry, the easy part of the drive to Val Thorens is short: the motorway to Albertville and the N90 to Moûtiers take less than an hour. The rest is the Belleville valley road, which gains close to 1,800 metres of altitude up to 2,300 metres.
On a clear day, allow an hour and a half in total. On a snowy changeover Saturday the climb alone can take two to three hours, and that is the day most Chambéry flights land. Your chauffeur checks the road the evening before and adjusts the pick-up time.
