Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc

The small airport
on Lac du Bourget

Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc airport sits on the southern shore of Lac du Bourget, the largest natural lake in France, about ten kilometres north of Chambéry. It is a human-scale airport that comes alive in winter, with flights from the United Kingdom and northern Europe bound for the ski resorts.

Its great advantage is distance. From Chambéry, Courchevel, Méribel and Val Thorens are about an hour and a half by road, a good hour less than from Geneva, and the whole drive stays in France, on the motorway to Albertville and then up the Tarentaise valley. No customs, no Swiss vignette.

The trade-off is the calendar. Flights concentrate on Saturdays and Sundays, when the chalets change hands, and the Tarentaise road gets busy on exactly those days. We time every transfer to the actual landing and to the state of the valley, not to a theoretical schedule.

Our routes from Chambéry

Resorts served
from the airport

We run transfers to every resort in Savoie and Haute-Savoie, with particular care for those our clients ask for most: Courchevel, Méribel and Val Thorens in the Three Valleys, Val d'Isère and Tignes at the head of the upper Tarentaise, La Plagne and Les Arcs in the Paradiski, and Megève and Chamonix on the Mont Blanc side.

From November to the end of March, the French mountain law requires 3PMSF winter tyres or chains in the boot in Savoie and Haute-Savoie. Our cars are equipped for the whole season, and the chauffeurs assigned to Chambéry drive these roads every winter week.

The airport also handles business aviation. If you arrive by private jet, the car waits at the aircraft, coordinated with your crew, and you are on your way to the resort minutes after landing.

Frequently asked questions

Chambéry airport transfer · FAQ

Which resorts are closest to Chambéry airport?

Méribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens are about an hour and twenty minutes to an hour and a half away, Megève about an hour and a quarter. Val d'Isère, at the head of the Tarentaise, is a little over two hours.

Why choose Chambéry rather than Geneva?

For the Tarentaise resorts, Chambéry saves about an hour on the road and avoids the Swiss border. Geneva, on the other hand, has many more flights. We cover both airports.

Do all flights arrive at the weekend?

In winter, the vast majority of flights land on Saturdays and Sundays. That is why we set every departure from the actual landing time and the valley traffic.

Is there a train station at the airport?

No. The simplest way to reach a resort is a car with a chauffeur, waiting on arrival and dropping you at your address.

Do you meet private jets?

Yes, in coordination with your crew or handler. The car waits at the aircraft.

Are snow chains necessary?

From November to March the French mountain law requires 3PMSF winter tyres or chains on board in the listed communes of Savoie and Haute-Savoie. Our cars carry both.
