Chambéry Airport Guide
for Skiers

Arrivals, departures, the Saturday rush and the road to the resorts: what to know before landing at Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc, the closest airport to Les 3 Vallées.

Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc

A small airport
on the shore of a lake

Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc airport sits at Voglans, at the southern end of the Lac du Bourget, about 10 kilometres north of Chambéry. It has a single terminal and comes alive in winter, when ski flights, most of them from the United Kingdom, land on Saturdays and Sundays from December to April.

It is the closest airport to the Tarentaise: Courchevel and Méribel are about an hour and a half away and Val Thorens about an hour and three quarters, against two and a half hours or more from Geneva or Lyon. Schedules change every season, so check the days and times with your airline or tour operator.

The airport is also convenient for Aix-les-Bains, about 8 kilometres away, and for Annecy, about 50 kilometres to the north. Most skiers, though, head straight for the Tarentaise by Albertville and Moûtiers, or for Megève and Chamonix by the Arly valley.
