From Geneva airport to Gstaad along the lake, through the Gruyère and up the Pays-d'Enhaut. About two hours on the road, a chauffeur who knows the way and a rate fixed before you leave.
Gstaad is about two hours from Geneva airport, and the drive crosses a border you barely notice, the language border. You leave Geneva and the canton of Vaud in French and arrive in Gstaad, part of the Bernese municipality of Saanen, where German is spoken. In between, the Pays-d'Enhaut and Château-d'Œx make the transition without you realising.
The usual route follows the lake to Lausanne, climbs to Bulle on the A12 motorway, then follows the Sarine valley through Château-d'Œx, Rougemont and Saanen. From the Valais side you can also come via Aigle and the Col du Pillon. Your chauffeur chooses according to the time of day, the weather and the state of the road.
The village itself guards its calm. The Promenade, its main street, is pedestrian, and each of the grand hotels has its own access for cars. Your chauffeur drops you at the right entrance, hotel or chalet, and leaves without lingering.
The lake, the Gruyère, then the Sarine valley. A gentler drive than the Valais roads, with winter traps of its own.
Around sixty kilometres of motorway along the lake. Quick midweek, slower on Friday evenings and winter Saturdays.
The motorway climbing from Lausanne to Bulle via Châtel-Saint-Denis, with the Moléson as a backdrop.
From Bulle to Château-d'Œx, Rougemont and Saanen, a valley road that follows the Sarine all the way to Gstaad. Winter tyres are essential from November to March.

Dropped at your hotel or chalet, at the entrance used by cars.
Gstaad has its own airfield at Saanen, used by light aircraft, private jets and helicopters. If you fly in there, the car waits at the aircraft, a few minutes from the village. If you land in Geneva, the road remains the simplest option, and we will be waiting.
By train, Gstaad sits on the scenic GoldenPass line, about an hour and thirty-five minutes from Montreux. We are happy to collect you from the station, or to drop you in Montreux for a return by train along the lake.
In summer the Menuhin Festival fills the churches of Saanen and the surrounding villages with concerts, and Gstaad changes pace without losing its calm. Transfers from Geneva are then booked as heavily as in February.

A taxi from Geneva airport to Gstaad runs on the meter and is rarely equipped for the mountain. Shared coach and shuttle transfers leave on a timetable, stop at other resorts and wait for other flights. The train from Geneva to Gstaad is a fine ride via Montreux and the GoldenPass line, but it takes about three hours with changes and leaves you at the station with your skis.
