Private Driver
in Barcelona
Barcelona keeps a low emission zone inside the Rondes around the clock, fines foreign plates that are not registered, and gives you an old quarter no car can enter. A private driver at your disposal handles all three and lets the day run on your terms.
My Private Service provides a premium chauffeur service Barcelona, airport transfers El Prat, executive car hire and VIP transportation available 24/7. Our private luxury driver teams cover Barcelona, Catalunya and beyond. We are the luxury chauffeur service near me that international clients in Barcelona trust.
A grid you can drive,
and a core you cannot
The Eixample is a grid and the Gothic Quarter is a maze of streets narrower than a car. The low emission zone covers everything inside the Rondes, holidays included, and foreign plates must be registered or fined. Between Montjuïc, the Sagrada Família and the beach the distances are short and the stopping is the hard part.
Dropped at the edge of the old town
An hourly booking here buys the stopping rather than the driving. The chauffeur knows which corner of the Gothic Quarter a car can reach, waits while you walk the rest, and holds whatever you are carrying.
- From four hours, with the same chauffeur from the first pickup to the last drop off
- Compliant vehicles and registered plates, so the zone inside the Rondes is not a question
- Drop-off at the nearest usable point to the Gothic Quarter and the Born, which is never the address itself
- Unlimited stops inside the agreed area, so a long lunch costs nothing
- Cruise terminal and Fira transfers handled inside the same booking
Barcelona and the coast around it
Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, with drop-offs at the ticketed entrance.
The shopping avenues and the boutiques behind them, with purchases carried to the car.
The exhibition grounds at Gran Via and Montjuïc, and the business district by the beach.
Port Vell and the cruise quays, coordinated with embarkation times.
Cava country and the monastery as full day bookings.
El Prat, terminals 1 and 2, plus the executive terminal for private arrivals.
A city built on a grid.
With everything you want at the edges of it.
The Eixample looks orderly from above and behaves quite differently at street level. The blocks are long, the chamfered corners eat parking, and the things visitors actually come for sit far apart: the Sagrada Familia to the north, Park Guell further up the hill, Montjuic across the city, the Gothic quarter where a car simply cannot follow you. A private driver in Barcelona is less about crossing the city quickly than about not having to think between one of those and the next.
The heat decides more of the day than people expect. From June to September a ten minute walk in the middle of the afternoon changes the mood of everyone in the group, and the value of the car waiting in the shade with cold water in it is hard to overstate. The same is true in reverse at night, when the restaurants in Gracia and El Born empty at an hour when finding a cab on the street is a matter of luck.
Barcelona is also the easiest base on this coast. The Penedes wine estates are under an hour inland, Sitges sits just down the coast, Montserrat makes a half day, and Girona and the Costa Brava coves fill a long one. Because the booking is measured in hours, a morning in the city and an afternoon out of it is one arrangement rather than two.
On the practical side, the low emission zone covering Barcelona and the ring roads applies on weekdays and our vehicles are registered for it. Cruise passengers are collected at the terminal itself rather than at the port gate, and shopping from Passeig de Gracia stays locked in the car while you carry on. None of this is glamorous and all of it is the reason the day works.
A few distances make the planning easier. The airport is around fifteen kilometres from the centre and rarely more than half an hour. Sitges is about forty kilometres down the coast, the Penedes estates thirty to fifty inland, Montserrat around sixty, Girona a hundred, Figueres a hundred and forty, and the French border about a hundred and sixty. Inside the city, crossing from the Eixample to the beach or up to Park Guell is fifteen to twenty-five minutes depending on the hour.
What is the minimum booking?
Four hours. For a single El Prat run the point to point transfer is better value and we will say so.
Does the low emission zone affect my booking?
No. The zone inside the Rondes applies around the clock, holidays included, and works by vehicle category. Our fleet complies and the plates are registered.
How close can the car get to the Gothic Quarter?
To the edge of it. The streets inside are narrower than a car, so the chauffeur stops at the nearest usable point and waits while you walk the last part.
Are stops limited?
No, not inside the area agreed at booking. A long lunch simply moves the rest of the day.
Can you handle a cruise embarkation?
Yes. The cruise quays are part of the same booking, with the timing set against your embarkation window rather than the general traffic.
Which vehicles are available?
Mercedes E-Class and S-Class for one to three passengers, V-Class for groups and luggage.
Can the car enter the low emission zone?
Yes. The zone covering the city and the ring roads operates on weekdays and all of our vehicles are registered for it. It is not something you need to check or pay for.
Can we spend part of the day outside the city?
Yes, and many clients do. The Penedes wineries, Sitges, Montserrat, Girona and the Costa Brava are all within a comfortable day. Tell us when you book and the hourly booking simply continues.
Can you collect from a cruise terminal?
Yes, at the terminal building rather than the port entrance. Give us the ship and the arrival time and the chauffeur will be there when you come down the gangway.
What about the Gothic quarter, where cars cannot go?
The chauffeur drops you at the nearest point a car is allowed and agrees a pickup with you before you walk in. Via Laietana, the cathedral side and the port end all work, and the choice depends on where you are heading.
Do the chauffeurs speak English?
Spanish, Catalan and English as standard. French and Arabic speaking chauffeurs are available in Barcelona when requested in advance.
Which vehicle suits a day in Barcelona?
An E-Class for one or two passengers, an S-Class when the day is made of meetings, and a V-Class for a family, for a group of four or more, or for a shopping day on the Passeig de Gracia that will need the boot.
Can the booking be extended on the day?
Usually, if the chauffeur is free afterwards. Ask during the afternoon rather than at the last stop and we will extend the same car or organise a handover.
How does payment work?
The rate is agreed before the day and invoiced afterwards, by card or bank transfer. Nothing is settled in the car and the chauffeur never discusses money.
