Rome has five restricted traffic zones with camera enforcement over its centre. Licensed chauffeur vehicles are exempt from all of them, which is the whole difference between being dropped at your door and being dropped three streets away.

My Private Service provides a private chauffeur service in Rome, airport transfers Fiumicino & Ciampino, executive car hire and VIP transportation available 24/7.

Why Rome is decided
by the ZTL cameras

Five restricted traffic zones cover central Rome: the Centro Storico, the Tridente, Trastevere, San Lorenzo and Testaccio. Each has its own days and hours, cameras read every plate, and the Centro Storico alone is closed to ordinary traffic from half past six in the morning until six in the evening on weekdays. Licensed chauffeur vehicles are among the categories exempt from all of them. That single fact decides whether your car reaches the hotel entrance or stops at the edge of the zone.

The detail that counts

Five things that change
in this city

Rome punishes improvisation more than any other capital in Europe, because the cameras do not negotiate. Here is what a prepared arrival looks like.

  • Licensed chauffeur vehicles are exempt from every Roman ZTL, so the car goes to the door of a hotel on Via del Babuino or a restaurant near the Pantheon rather than stopping outside the zone.
  • The Centro Storico zone runs from half past six in the morning to six in the evening on weekdays and from two to six on Saturday, and the Tridente until seven. The hour you arrive changes what is possible for anyone without an exemption.
  • Fiumicino is around thirty kilometres south-west and Ciampino around fifteen to the south-east. They are different journeys with different traffic, and the departure is planned around the one you actually use.
  • Civitavecchia, where the cruise ships dock, is a good hour and a quarter from Rome. A ship calling for the day needs the return timed to the sailing, not to an estimate.
  • The same chauffeur can hold the car for the day, which in a city where parking near the centre barely exists is worth more than the hours it costs.

Frequently asked

Can your car enter the ZTL in central Rome?

Yes. Licensed chauffeur vehicles are among the categories exempt from all five Roman restricted traffic zones, so the drop-off is at the address itself rather than at the edge of the zone.

What are the ZTL hours in the historic centre?

The Centro Storico zone runs from half past six in the morning until six in the evening Monday to Friday, and from two until six on Saturday. The Tridente runs until seven in the evening. Other zones, including Trastevere, add night-time restrictions at weekends.

Which Rome airport do you cover?

Both. Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci around thirty kilometres to the south-west, and Ciampino around fifteen kilometres to the south-east. The meeting point is inside the terminal your flight uses.

Can you collect us at Civitavecchia?

Yes. The cruise port is around an hour and a quarter from Rome, and the return is timed to your sailing rather than to a rough estimate.

Can you take us to Florence or the Amalfi coast?

Yes. Long distance runs out of Rome are part of the service, with the same chauffeur throughout and the rate agreed beforehand.

Is the rate fixed before I travel?

Always, in writing, before anything is confirmed. There is no meter in the car and the amount does not change for traffic or for waiting at the airport.
