Zurich to Andermatt

At the foot of the Gotthard,
through the Schöllenen gorge

Andermatt lies at 1,447 metres in the Urseren valley, about 120 kilometres from Zurich airport, an hour and three quarters on a clear day. The motorway runs by Lucerne and along Lake Lucerne to Göschenen, then the road climbs the Schöllenen gorge and over the Devil's Bridge into the village.

Once a garrison town, Andermatt has become one of the most sought-after resorts in central Switzerland, with The Chedi and new chalets around a car-free village centre, and a ski area linked to Sedrun.
