The Airport You Use
When the Day Is Tight
Linate sits eight kilometres from the centre of Milan, which its operator calls a city airport and which anyone landing there understands within about four minutes. It handles 43 destinations with 19 airlines across 14 countries, and it is the fourth busiest airport in Italy. Almost all of that is short haul, a good deal of it is people flying in for the day, and that single fact governs everything about a transfer here.
The margins are different from Malpensa. There, forty five kilometres of motorway absorb a late arrival. Here there is nothing to absorb it with, because the drive is already short. If you land at ten past nine for a half past nine meeting on Corso Venezia, the transfer works or it does not, and the difference is whether the car was already at the kerb when you walked out.
The trade off is worth naming honestly. Linate is close, which is its whole point, but it is also small and it closes in on itself quickly when weather diverts traffic. When a day matters, we watch the airport as well as the aircraft.

The business aviation side, and the reason a good many people choose Linate at all. Its operator opened an enlarged terminal of more than twenty one thousand square feet in March 2026, and Jetex opened a facility there in the early part of the same year. The metro option

How far is Linate from the centre of Milan?
Eight kilometres, which its operator describes as a city airport. Reckon fifteen to twenty five minutes by car, longer at the end of the afternoon when Viale Forlanini fills up.
Should I use Linate or Malpensa?
If you are flying short haul within Europe and your day is in Milan, Linate is the obvious choice. Malpensa is forty five kilometres out and handles the intercontinental traffic. The airport is usually decided by the route rather than by preference.
Do you meet private aircraft at Linate Prime?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do here. Linate Prime is the business aviation side with its own entrance. Its operator opened an enlarged terminal there in March 2026. We coordinate with your handler so the car is at the right door.
Is the M4 metro faster than a car from Linate?
With a single bag and a destination near San Babila, quite possibly. The line covers it in twelve minutes. With luggage, with several people, or with a destination that is not a metro station, the car wins. We would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.
Can you drive into the restricted zones around the Duomo?
Yes. Our vehicles are compliant with Area B and registered for Area C. Note that Via Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga are closed to cars entirely, so we stop on Via Manzoni or Corso Venezia, a few steps away.
Can the car stay with me between meetings?
That is the normal arrangement at Linate, where most people arrive in the morning and fly home the same evening. Holding the car for the day is simpler and usually cheaper than booking each leg separately.
What happens if my flight into Linate is delayed?
The car is positioned against the live arrival time and waiting caused by the airline is not charged. Because Linate is small, we also watch the airport itself, since weather diversions affect it quickly.
Is the Linate transfer rate fixed in advance?
Yes. Confirmed in writing before booking and unchanged afterwards, whatever the traffic does. There is no meter in the car.
Eight Kilometres In, Then the Awkward Part
The drive from Linate is the easy half. The difficult half is the last three hundred metres, because central Milan is governed by two overlapping schemes and they catch out visitors constantly. Area B covers most of the municipality, some 128 square kilometres, and shuts out older diesel and petrol engines.
Area C is the small charged ring of about eight square kilometres around the Duomo.
Both operate Monday to Friday from half past seven in the morning to half past seven in the evening, both are camera enforced, and both lift on public holidays.Then there is the Quadrilatero della Moda, where Via Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga are closed to cars altogether. The question there is never whether you can drive in, because you cannot.
It is where the car waits, and the answer is usually Via Manzoni or Corso Venezia, thirty seconds from where you actually want to be.Two weeks a year the whole calculation changes. Fashion Week and the Salone del Mobile fill every hotel and every road, and Linate becomes the airport everyone else has also chosen.
In those weeks the car is booked for the period rather than journey by journey, because arranging cars one at a time is how people end up waiting.
What Matters on a Short Transfer
- The Car Waits, You Do Not: Positioned before the aircraft lands. On an eight kilometre run there is no motorway in which to make up lost minutes.
- Linate Prime Coordination: Direct contact with your handler on the business aviation side, so the car is at the right entrance rather than the public one.
- Cleared for Area B and Area C: Compliant and registered. The drop happens at the address, and around the Quadrilatero we already know where a car can legally stand.
- Kept Between Appointments: The usual Linate pattern is in at nine, out at seven. Holding the car for the day costs less trouble than three separate bookings.
- Honest About the Metro: Twelve minutes to San Babila is quick, and with a single bag it may beat us. We will say so rather than sell you a car you do not need.
