in Zurich
Zurich airport is thirteen kilometres from Paradeplatz and around two hours from Davos. A booked car means the right vehicle for the season, the Swiss vignette on board, and a fare agreed before you leave the terminal.
My Private Service provides a private chauffeur service in Zurich, airport transfers ZRH, executive car hire, Alpine ski resort transfers and VIP transportation available 24/7 across Zurich and Switzerland.
Why Zurich is short
and Switzerland is long
Zurich airport sits thirteen kilometres north of the centre, so the banks on Paradeplatz and the hotels on Bahnhofstrasse are a short run. Everything else in Switzerland is not. Lucerne is around an hour, Davos closer to two and a quarter, St Moritz and Zermatt nearer three or more, and in January the World Economic Forum turns the road into the Grisons into a queue with police checks. What you book depends entirely on which of those two Switzerlands you are going to.
Five things that change
in this country
Zurich is the most punctual city on this list and the least forgiving about it. Here is what a prepared arrival looks like.
- The airport is thirteen kilometres out and the run into the centre is short, which makes the timing of the pick-up matter more than the distance. Your driver tracks the flight and is inside arrivals when you clear customs.
- Davos in January is a different exercise. Access to the Forum is controlled, the valley road carries the whole event and the journey can take far longer than the map suggests. Those weeks are arranged months in advance.
- From November to April the mountain roads need winter tyres and a driver who has used them. St Moritz, Klosters and Zermatt are not the same journey in February as they are in July.
- Every vehicle carries the Swiss motorway vignette, and crossing into Germany, Austria or Liechtenstein is part of the journey rather than a border problem.
- Zurich runs on time, so the car is early rather than punctual. A board meeting on Bahnhofstrasse and a flight at Kloten do not leave room for an approximate departure.

How far is Zurich airport from the city?
Thirteen kilometres to the north, which is a short run outside peak hours. The pick-up is timed to your flight rather than to a fixed slot, because the drive is short enough that arriving early matters more than driving fast.
Can you drive us to Davos for the World Economic Forum?
Yes, and it is one of the weeks we plan furthest in advance. The journey is around two and a quarter hours in normal conditions and considerably longer during the Forum, when access is controlled and the valley road carries the entire event.
How long does it take to reach St Moritz or Zermatt?
Around three hours to St Moritz and rather more to Zermatt, which is car-free at the village itself. The route and the drop-off point are agreed when you book.
Are your vehicles equipped for winter?
Yes. From November to April the cars run on winter tyres and the chauffeurs know the mountain passes in poor conditions, which is not something you can improvise.
Do you handle the Swiss vignette and border crossings?
Yes. Every vehicle carries the motorway vignette, and runs into Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria or Italy are part of the normal service.
Is the rate fixed before I travel?
Always, in writing, before anything is confirmed. There is no meter in the car and the amount does not change for traffic, for snow or for waiting at the airport.
